Mac Security: DRM Chip Bolted Inside New Intel Macs?

[URL=“define:DRM - Google Search”]

DRM protection and [URL=“http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&defl=en&q=define:Trusted+computing&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title”]trusted computing enabling chip is found to be wired inside the new Intel-based Macs while no official statement, documentation or press release tells consumers about its existence.

This could allow new levels of control over your ‘personal’ computer

This is really critical information to understand whether it’s still ok to buy and recommend Apple products or it is better to get your hands on some of the older PowerPc Macs before they disappear from the market.

Well like it or not DRM is gonna be used in most new technology so we really cant do much about that only boycott theses products but if no alternative products are in the market without DRM then we’re screwed. :-/

Oh how I hate DRM, and all those greedy bastards.

I know the feeling man… wouldn’t be long before PCs have it as well :frowning:

I think the TC chip is more about attempting to stop OSX from running on white boxes, iirc… still, did a lot of good, eh :wink:

I’m not so sure about that. See, the only company you can get a Mac from is Apple. They have no competition on Macs. That’s why they can take money from the big companies to put DRM and not really lose much on sales.
But PC motherboard manufacturers (I guess if they think about putting them on the PC, they’d put the chips on the motherboards) have a lot of competition. A lot. And not putting DRM is in your favour. Besides, the companys would have to pay every single company that makes mobos money to put their DRM stuff in and even then it would be illegal because competing companies can’t decide to put stuff in together at the same time that will hamper the freedom of choice for the consumer.
