Masking Text Outlines

why cant you mask text outlines?..Is there anyway around it?

What do you mean text outlines? Is the text set to dynamic? If it is, you’ll need to embed the font in order to mask it.

Nope, you don’t need to. :stuck_out_tongue:

ok sorry i didn’t explain myself…i should have known better. Ok say you make some regular static text…you break down that test and with the outlinie tool in flash…make an outline around the text…if you delete the fill all you have left is the outlines…well i can’t seem to be able to mask those lines

kax, device fonts are fonts on the viewer’s machine. What if the textbox uses a font that isn’t on the viewer’s machine? Then what?

Ehmm… that’s a totally different situation.

Obviously you’d have to embed the font, I just said that you can mask device fonts.

haha they just ignore you that’s funny.

Make sure your turning it into a MC first. I don’t think you can just mask a shape. All that outline thing is, is a shape.

yeah there are two types of shapes: a fill and a line…this is a line…i seem to have trouble w/masking lines sometimes…but i’ll try making it into an MC

Sorry… I didn’t say anything about it because I have no idea why it isn’t working. :stuck_out_tongue:

… I ran a quick test and the mask worked just fine. :-\

norie, are those lines grouped by any chance? I know that when certain objects are grouped, you can’t mask them.
