Hey, Im in serious trouble, I need an Instant Messaging chat System with streaming video, secure login and user pref’s storage coded in PHP for yesterday, and I don’t know what a computer is! Please explain as to not-yet-born-baby.

liam, do you know how many people post here every week with questions starting something like “i’m a newbie/serious help/need code guru asap/urgent help…” who really don’t know enough about what they’re wanting (forgot “i want…”, my favorite, in the above…), and then get upset like 3 hours later because nobody answered yet, and when you do try to answer, it’s no use coz the knowledge is just not there to make use of the information provided, and so on and so on…sometimes there’s just one too many…
step 1: search google
step 2:check the tutorials to see if it’s there
step 3:search the forums to see if the question was answered before
step 4: post
but it’s just sooo much easier to post straight away and wait for an answer…well, sometimes the answer will not be so nice!
Some boards, the only thing you’ll get is rtfm (read the f** manual) or stuff like that, Jubba provided two usefull links, so where’s the pb?
the problem is, eyezberg, that after jubba had posted these two “useful links” for WarrOrange to check out and increase his knowledge, you decided to come in and poke fun of him.

well, maybe some of those who are newer to flash/web design don’t realize that such a project is a rather large undertaking. as far as them “getting upset 3 hours later”, do you see WarrOrange doing that? he hasn’t even responded to this thread, most likely because you chose to humiliate him.
if you think that this is such a problem, then why don’t you be responsible about it and write some rules or a tutorial or something for the newbies, i’m sure they’d benefit alot from your “comprehensive 4-step tutorial on how not to be made fun of by someone who may not even have as much knowledge” post.
if we had more people like you on the boards, then this would sure as hell not be the intelligent, tactful, respectful and fun board that it is today.
instead of flaming him, why don’t you just write a kind reply next time, or just leave it alone.

And I’m not here to write up rules, the 4 step thing is something I believe is a logical,
intelligent, tactful, respectful
way of using forums.

Other mods got “flamed” before for just posting the “search” button as only answer, well, sometimes the same question asked again over & over is just the “drop that …” on a bad day.
