Well I finally picked up my bike (CBR250R) from my parent’s place and did the 2hr ride back to Maroochydore… felt like i was ****ed in the *** by the end of it.
Anyway, hopefully somebody may be able to help me out here… its been having starting issues especially in the cold winters morning (but on saturday I had it happen to me over and over while riding it all day… sunday it worked every time straight off). The starter motor will just kick and kick and the only way to get the bike running is to
- keep thrusting the throttle for about 30 seconds while holding the start button and it will finally kick in
- clutch start
We’ve replaced the alternator (dad may have changed the starter motor too but im not to sure), and also re-wired the head lights so that it doesn’t turn on automatically (there is a switch) as it seems to drain the power from the battery quickly when on automatic on (and the bike won’t start at all). Ive tried charging the battery to full but it still has the same issues.
Anyone know what may be causing this?
Also, does clutch starting a bike frequently damage it at all - i.e. if i was to clutch start all the time would it be harming the bike?
thx…
Anyone up for a sunshine coast hinterland ride?
Bike is a 1989 CBR250R
