RANT - Car Troubles

So my cars alternator has been on the Fritz since late summer. I am an idiot for not taking care of it. When me and a few buddies drove down to New York from Boston to see a yanks/sox in the enemy’s backyard I kept getting a message on the display “battery no charge”. When I would accelerate harder it would go away but when I idled the car it would come back. So when we drove back it had no problems. I knew exactly what the problem was. I let it go.

Over the next few months it would happen occasionally then go away for weeks.

Last Friday I was driving home from work and it came on the display again. It didnt go away. Now it was snowing like a bastard so traffic sucked. Got all kinds of great messages like battery volts low, service engine and what have you. I was about to pull off the highway to stop at a gas station that was right off the exit when everything went away and appeared fine. Like a complete and total stubborn tool I decide to try to get it home. (Another 15miles)

The next exit was right up ahead but I was stuck in traffic and it started again. This time the computer was disengaging power to my abs, climate control. (it was kinda cool it knew to do that, I was surprised) I managed to get into the breakdown lane and it dies for good. Had to pay $150 to get it towed. Again like an arse I towed it to my house with all intent of replacing the alternator and battery myself. Little did I know the my huge northstar engine took up soo much room that I had to go from underneath blah…scew that I cant do that. I can barely identify the alternator as it is.

Two days of catching rides into work from co-workers and not having a car… I come up with the brilliant idea to try to get enough charge into the battery to get it 3/4 of a mile down the street to the service station. Valiant effort but I failed as it died as soon as I hit the street. Used a buddies AAA card to tow it 1/2 mile because I cant push it on a divided highway in rush hour traffic obviously. Drop it off awaiting a call to see what its going to cost.

Today I got a ride into work and got the call from the mechanic. Because its a Cadillac and the labor required to get to the **** thing I am looking at $450 - $500 for a new fricken alternator and battery.

Just great right before Christmas. F luxury cars sideways with a big fat rotten purple dildo!
