Mp3 Player vs MD Player

I have a MD player right now, I got it just before mp3 players took the shelves by storm. the thing about those nifty gadgets is the fact that they come in small sizes:) that’s precisely why i got a MD player (versus a cd player)

they’re cheaper too.
and you can transfer mp3s to the player just like that
maybe now with the new (or not so new) NetMD technology, you can almost do the same…but those cost a bunch.

my bro got a mp3 player, it’s got an equalizer that my md doesn’t have :(, and i can’t hear much difference in the sound quality (leaving the equalizer in default).
his friend however says that he’d like a MD player instead of a mp3 player - something about analog i think, but i dont know what it means.

so…what are the pros/cons of a md/mp3 player?

i would assume the compression issue for mp3’s against lossless md sounds. But then again mp3’s at 192 or even good quality 128 kbps to the human ear sound the same as cd. Mp3’s are pretty good, i have a little rio 300 , old yes, but i still use it for short train trips and is enough for those days i need music for travel. But the newer ones are amazing, holding almost Gigabytes of information, some act as hardrives to transport video and files as well. almost a external harddrive.

Im a big fan of mp3, and havent really looks into MD , my mate has a md deck in his car, and recorder at home, the sound is good and all but limited to only about 15 songs to a md disk.

:: while my brother who has a mp3 deck in his car, could burn something like 6 albums compressed into mp3’s on one normal cd. And the deck is cool cause you can navigate by folder or random all track…

6 cds only??? what kind of compression is he using my car stereo is a mp3 player and i have as many as 10 to 15 full albums on some cds mp3 roxors

mp3 player better

ok he probably has more, lol… I said it was something like 6…

But yeah mp3 is better.

i get like 30 songs to my MD but it sounds good. i really want an ipod. if you get a mp3 get onna those, they are the best and sound soo nice. even apple hater have to admit that they are crazy.

hm md has the long play technology, bringing the total time u can record on a md up to 2x or 4x. lp2 quality’s about the same as normal, lp4 is supposed to be abit worse but i can’t hear the difference.

i record songs onto my md from mp3s, so i guess it’s just as good as recording onto a mp3 player

those mad storage mp3 players like the nomad jukebox and the lil ipod sure cost a bomb. and hey, how much are you planning to store at one go? unless you listen to it from 12 to 12, i dont think you’ll store a few gigabytes of music. i’d rather go for a cheaper one and simply add/remove songs as and when i like - ofcourse get a reasonable storage space, maybe about 256mb is more than enough:).

another thing to point out about md players…when you record your songs onto it, you’ll have to go about putting track marks to separate your songs into tracks. it’s supposed to be able to pick up the track marks on its own when recording, but i normally end up with only 8 track marks for about 30 songs. also, you’ll have to go about naming each track if you want to(although i never do this)
