hah I’v been trying to make a movie into a button (actually only tried it once and it didnt work)…Maybe I’lll try again sometime soon.
THere is so much more you can do with movie clip buttons than you can with button buttons.
Although you should still know how button buttons work. I use regular buttons when I am just creating a straight forward button that has no effects, not even different states.
You inspired me, I’ll try it again tomorrow.
ok, what im trying to do is: the text is there, 100% alpha, then right when someone rolls over it it fades down to 50-60% alpha, then fades back in to 100% after almost a second… you know? ok, right now im figuring it out, since im gonna have more than 1 button on scene 1 should i make a button bg like u have in your lost?
I’v been thinking about making a sound bar/radio type deal for my site…Entirly of AS…Dunno, it might work. If I ever get it done I’ll send it over to you (it’ll be a while).
Well if you don’t enjoy my method, Morse method works as well.
Basically, you create your regular button symbol.
Then right click and hit insert Keyframe in the Over state frame.
Now select the items on the stage that are in that frame, covert them into a movie clip symbol.
Double click these items to edit the movie clip, and create your tween on that timeline.
wooof, that method went right over my head… im still a nub to this stuff… well, not super nub, ok, maybe…
If you don’t know about button symbols and what each of the frames are inside one, I highly recommend you step back a bit and learn those.
All symbols are an important part of flash.
u reccommend i learn it eh? im cool with that, could u direct me to a good tut for that purpouse?
There should be some that come packaged with Flash itself.
Those tutorials are great to start with.
It is better to first get situated with what movie clips are, with what buttons are and with what graphics are.
Learning the tools and using the properties panel is useful as well.
i did the first tut that comes with flash, the one where u make the stilleto car thing…
Ok, I will see if I can give a quick rundown on a button.
Draw your object on the stage.
Select your object.
Convert it to a button symbol (F8, then choose button from the radio buttons and hit “OK”)
Double click on your button to edit it.
There will be 4 frames, and they will be labeled, Up, Over, Down, Hit.
Up is your button
Over is what your button will look like when you move your mouse over it
Down is what your button will look like when you press it
Hit defines the hit area of the button, usually the same as all the other frames.
Now what I was saying was to use a movie clip symbol with your tweened text in it in the Over frame. That way when your mouse is over it, the movie is triggered.
how do i put the movie clip into the overframe?
ir are uber nub, and i now am seriously going to do the other tutorials…
netr the “over” frame and drag the movieclip from the library to the stage
We solved it over AIM syko
