Hi, does anyone know of a way to make text glow? So for instance you have a word which fades into view on the stage, once fully visable it then ‘glows’ and then goes back to normal.
Is an effect like this possible with AS?

u should use photoshop for the glow effect… AS can’t do the glow like photoshop…
you tried alpha shading? Just fade it on and off repeatedly.
alpha shading isn’t enough i think… it’s very sharp for a glow effect…
true. try this:

[]copy the text into photoshop (or similer), ensuring it is the same as the text used in flash. (Make sure the background colour is the same also)
[]enlarge the text by about 20 pixels all round.
[]fade out the edges of the text, to make it look like a glow effect.
[] paste your newly created image on a layer behind the flash text.
[*]fade in and out as needed. [/list]
Dont knkow how simple that is, but i hope it works. It should get somthing close - ive tried somthing like this before.

Also, if i create a blur effect on some text in Photoshop - using the exact same background colour as i’m using in flash, when i import the blur effect into flash, as a png, and turn it into a symbol then place it on the stage it looks fine, but as soon as you test the movie the quality of the blur effect and its surounding background colour look really poor.
has anyone else experienced this and is their a way around it.
u should change compression settings of the image that u used… enter the Library ,find your image, cilck properties… and edit the compression settings…
