Since lots of us here have had the oportunity to get a Gmail invitation, I thought this might be useful. It’s only for OSX 10.3 and above (even happier I switched :P)
Similiar thing for GNOME: http://fraggle.alkali.org/projects/gtray/
If it were for PC I’d say your the man for that link. Since it’s not I hate you  (j/k)
Nifty tool indeed
a simple google for “PC GMail tray” turned up this: http://torrez.us/archives/2004/05/23/000272.html
Don’t know how good it is though
I never bothered searching for anything like this cuz to be honest I was kind of waiting for GMail to work with Outlook, yes I know Outlook sucks
This seems pretty decent, I just installed it, seems to work ok.
Nice find NJS, so far I would say this file is worth a shot for us PC users
Haha, well, you can say njs is the man now
I also found this, it doesn’t work directly (it acts as a tunnel between GMail and Outlook/thunderbird/whatever) - but it might be good

ooh, my friends will like this once I get them gmail (when I finally get some invites!)… they said they’re not so sure about gmail 'cause it doesn’t have smtp, this’ll certainly change their minds
I just uninstalled the Gmail tool for OS X, since it kept freezing and consuming 90% of my processor power :S
Maybe it’s just my comp, I dunno, but if you notice that your mac is running very slow after the installation of that Gmail tool, I suggest you uninstall it.
Cheers!
So far the 1st one NJS posted works ok for PC.
ya… me likes it
