I have a problem!
The site I’m currently making has parts of flash embeded into it to make things easier for me, and html to make things easier for my boss… Also improves the speed of which I make the pages.
Now! The site isn’t that big, but it still is; currently; around 100 some pages!
I have a pretty simple layout, but on the right hand side I’m supposed to show the news of the company and it’s an html site…
Every time I have to edit the news it’s some small editing job on every page of 100 or something along that number…
My boss is trying to make things easier, but in my infinite knowledge of this sorta thing i found that “semi-dynamic” html pages are a real rarity!
Upon this request; the next few minutes where about me thinking on the technologies I might need to “learn” in order to make the request happen!
His request was: “I want something that can be edited from one location, like an txt file or something like that…”
It’s not a matter of getting it done… It’s a matter of making it happen fast, cheap and semlessly into the site!
So I thought of flash, but anything will do!
I need a fast and simple way to edit a source file that will change in all the other pages!
Like a news reel or a news ticker! Although i don’t need it to be fancy, like flashing or moving text! I do need it to be like the html!
I’ll try to make it fit into the page, without making major changes into the structure of the site!
That is really the biggest thorn! I’d like this small change not to mean I have to redo the entire site, 'cause that means it won’t happen!
I started on the news reel from a grouping of several of the kirupean tutorials found here, and personall screwiness!
I need it to parse international characters, due to this being a Portuguese page, the need might come up to use those chars, and the nice squares are not an option…
It’s not like I need it now or anything, it will be needed in the near future…
