New Green Day Album!

Green Day have released a new album called ‘American Idiot’.
Check out www.greenday.com for details. Pretty nice site too.

I’ve only listened to the first half an hour, so i cant judge it properly yet, but from what i’ve heard its rather emotionless. Rather like a watered down green day. To be fair they are trying new things and I applaud that. No-one likes bands who sound exactly the same on each album

The single “American Idiot” is good, track 2 is 9 mins long which is odd for green day! Holiday is an interesting new style for them.

“Are We The Waiting” is just plain wierd.

Now take my opinion with a pinch of salt - like i say i’ve only listened to half the album, and i think the best songs green day did were before Nimrod

Green Day - Live, thats a different kettle of fish. They are one of the most entertaining bands i’ve ever seen. Playing all the crowd pleasers, getting a kid on stage to play guitars for a cover song… classic

I have yet to see them live. I missed their recent concert in Dublin. :frowning: Hopefully they’ll play another one over here soon. I have to hear this album to see what it’s like.

I used to like them, I don’t care for their new style. Plus I hate bands that get political, not matter for what side. Just isn’t needed. A song or two I like on the CD, not much.

I don’t mind bands getting political. NOFX are one of my favourite bands and they’re pretty d@mn political. I gotta hear this album though. goes to get album

Greenday is like the godfather of punk. I’ve only heard the ‘idiot’ tune off their new album and its pretty catchy. With that said, for some reason I don’t think I’ll bother getting the album.

Btw anyone see them on Letterman the other week? Holy Crap they were tight!

Plus I hate bands that get political, not matter for what side

yeah - because there are very few good bands pro bush (only britney spears, but we were talking about good bands weren’t we) j/k

Cool song, I too used to be a fan, doubt I’ll give the full album a listen though.

Because most bands are ignorant and biased.

hehe nice counter

will you explain it for me?

Haha thanks. Hey dude, the graphic updates for the floor on the game looks much better. Looks super pimperish. It’s going to get me fired I swear.

:stuck_out_tongue:

[ot]Who isn’t biased? For one reason or another everyone is going to have an opinion. I choose to be Anti-Bush because the propaganda is more entertaining and makes better reading. There’s not nearly as much Pro-Bush stuff. Also I’m against wars of any kind.[/ot]

How weird is this; my brother just came home about 10 mins ago with the Green Day album. I like it. Catchy and different from their old stuff.

i bougth there new album 7 copys of it to be exact i love it!

Greenday is growing up which i admire but they seemed to jump on the political band wagon way late in the game and it just pisses me off when a band does that…it just seems like their trying to get attention.

Easy to explain, do you see the bands question both sides? No. Do you see Greenday questioning Bush AND Kerry? No. The songs are biased, to me that is Hollywood ignorance. I really don’t care for a band that is biased just on Bush either. When I listen to music I’d rather not here crap to do with one sided views unless they know what they are actually talking about, even then I personally don’t care to hear it from either side. The last thing I need to think about when I’ want to enjoy music is political crap.

Why would you buy 7 copies? :sigh:

yea i think you flapping your gums

who the heck would buy 7 copies of one album?

I am with you telekinesis. I use to like Green Day back when they put out Dookie when I was in high school. I even saw them in concert they rocked, but the new ultra political stuff is crap. Now, I like punk which usually is more political, but they usually (back in the day) would use humor and not really take a side, just show things they think are wrong. My all time favorite punk band is the Dead Milkmen. They would get political, but it wasn’t this America is crap Michael Moore stuff, it was entertaining and mind opening and rocked. They never would have put out a totally political album. To me that is the opposite to what punk is all about.

Punk is all about being anti-establishment and anti-government of any sort. It’s not really about sides but people always have there own views. Why should bands be any different. That’s like saying hymns are missing the point because they are sided with Christians.

Making a CD based on politics doesn’t make them a band in my eyes. Might as well make it an audio documentary of slandering propaganda. Enough in the world is based on politics, I’m basically just trying to get the point across to you that politics is something I don’t want to hear when I am listening to tunes.
