New intro page

I decided to go ahead and begin the first steps in redesigning my web site…

Tonight I actually started and finished my intro page in which I plan on basing my design off of for the actual Flash web site. I designed a new logo as well.

As of right now I created a basic PORTFOLIO section to show off my previous work while I begin working on the Flash site, which Im sure is going to take me quite a while…

Ive learned a lot recently by browsing through Kirupa Forums and by the tutorials posted on here and I felt like it was time to update my web site to reflect my new found knowledge.

Any feedback is welcome and encouraged. I need to get ideas flowing so I can get started on the overhaul.

Hey Jeremy ! :slight_smile:

Your design looks very nice, but the fonts and the text effects kinda ruin it. Try spicing them up. Framerate is a bit low too - remember that the human brain requires an animation to be at least 24 fps to be smooth. Some transitions and cool effects would really coolen things up too.

i’d try easing for the menu animation rather than a motion tween. and increase the fps a little as voetsjoeba mentioned. good start though.

Maybe I shouldnt have included my old design for critique. What I meant to do was have my new design critiqued as compared to my old one.

i like the site all i all (even the splash ;)) but you need to up your fps to 30 on your flash bit…

in reference to the old site, i think 30 actually would have been a good #. i always use 30-35.

Thanks for all the positive responses. They mean a lot to me as I am in need of inspiration and am always looking for ways to improve upon what I have learned.

The old design which I posted on here was actually my first Flash web site and I built it in March of 2003. It had gone unchanged besides my portfolio since that time, so it was due time for a new design.

Hopefully Ill be able to find the time to actually get started on the new layout soon. Ill be sure to keep you guys posted as I progress.
