New Site, Rise of Reeker

Hi everyone,

I just finished the site for this new horror movie and thought I thought I’d see what you think.
Any comments are welcome.
thanks

The Rise of Reeker

I can’t access it. I get the splash page and when I click on the image it says ‘firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window’ but it won’t let me right click on it or anything…

is that something on your side or mine?

is anyone else having the same issue?

^ Set Firefox to allow that site to open popups.

As far as the site goes, it’s pretty neat for the type of site. However, I think if you’re going to have it open up in another window then you should have it do so only after the click of my mouse. Not automatically.

Anyhow, good job on the site  Also, the movie looks kinda cool :stuck_out_tongue:

In simple crude developing terms:

Popups = Bad site

^ I’m sorry, but I’ve got to call you on this. That’s a horrible critique. My personal feelings aside (I disagree with you), why post a critique for something you don’t like without an explanation or an offering of fixes? Replying with things like that is not helpful, and in fact can be quite discouraging.

Put simply: If you don’t have useful input, refrain from responding…

many people block pop-ups, many people are nervous about allowing pop-ups, and many people are annoyed by pop-ups. so to expound on sekasi’s somewhat curt advice - why not make the site open in the same page, rather than popping up? if you don’t have a serious reason for keeping it in this form, I’d suggest it might benefit you to change it.

just a thought

ps - my current situation, for instance, is that I’m not allowed to change the security settings on the machine I’m using - so I can’t allow pop-ups even if I want to…

site not openinggg …

Critique is almost always 99% subjective. To me a site in a popup tells me this:

“Okay this guy is unable to create his site to compensate for the different resolutions and browser sizes so he forces a new window on us”

Add to that the fact that a vast majority of web users use popup blockers, and that it’s always annoying to have a window pop up in your face.

I don’t see how that critique is any less useful than yours.

Hey thanks for the comments.

Yeah, I wanted to make the site fullscreen but I kept having problems with the stretching.
I’ve got something new to learn it looks like. I am more designer than coder (in fact, I hate programming lol), and the client was happy, so I went with the pop up. Before I decided, I did look around a bit, fwa and what not, to see if there are still sites using pop ups and saw that there are, so thats why I chose it. But originally my goal was to have it all fullscreen and without borders.
If someone can point me in the right direction, that’d be great!

Oh yeah, just a tip, if you click on the shack on the Trailer page, you can get a sneak peak behind the scenes of the film.
