Old MTV shows

remember back in the day when MTV was actually good?
shows like “The Head” and “Aeon Flux” and “Liquid TV” and “Cartoon Sushi” and “the State” were on the air instead of the usless garble they call programming. ugh. anywhoo. i’m starting this thread, not only to reminisce about your favorite extinct MTV shows, but also to see if anyone out there can help me. see, i saw this show, sometime between 94-96 or somewhere around there. and i have NO IDEA what it was. but it still haunts me. and i need to see it again. so maybe one of you will remember what it was. or what series it was a part of. or ANYthing. here goes… a description of the show.

mtv aired a short series of some sort of independant shorts or maybe just mtv creations, who knows. anyway, that was ages ago, so i forgot really. one night, i stumbled on this show in the middle of the night. there was this girl, and she was a performer in a
sideshow of some sort. she would stick swords through her torso and be totally unscathed. then she met this guy, and i’m not sure really what happened at this point, but aparently she was dating him or sleeping with him or something, because she was in bed with him at one point. i’m not sure then if he broke her heart, or if soemthing in her past broke her, but eventually they woke up in bed and she was bleeding. or maybe she was gone and he saw the blood. all i remember was there was blood in the bed. then the last scene is where she has her last show, and she
sticks the swords in, but this time, whatever magic or illusion she had been using she ‘turned off’ because the swords killed her. and that was the end. i remember it being over saturated with color, and having a more bluish greenish color. i think it was about 20 or 30 minutes long at the most.

please please please, someone know what the heck i’m talking about! hehe.

and if you dont, you can still post about your
favorite old mtv shows

Aeon Flux kicked serious buttocks!

I loved that show… Its back when MTV didn’t totaly sell out… it was close though. Now I just don’t watch it… its such bs.

sorry, dont recall that one…

but i did love liquid television, and the state cracked me up! i remember this one skit where they were dressed up like members of the ‘justice league of america’, and it was funny, but i cant remember why…

Mtv was also known to play ren and stimpy episodes once upon a time…

(BTW: if you havn’t seen the Tenacious D Flash Video for “::EXPLETIVE:: her Gently”, done by the Ren and Stimpy Folks, then head to this link to scope it:

I hate reality TV and MTV mixed into one. . . . .

haha, did you ever see the episode of the state where, they are at a restaurant with “Frank” tha talking sandwich, and they are all talkign really weird with their eyes bugged out, and like all mellow and monotone, and then the waiter comes, and they make some joke about fried bumblebees, and then they all laugh this insane twitter? i love frank…

do you mean back when they used to be a music video channel?

after about 1986 they stopped being a video channel, and became a network of idiotic TV shows for 15-19 yr old boys…

Yes, they used to be cool (1981-1986)…
I haven’t tuned in to watch MTV in at least a decade…

:stuck_out_tongue: 91-95ish was groovy. a nice balance of music videos and funny funny or crazy artistic stuff.

I wish Music Television would actually play music and not those stupid Real World/ Road Rules crap they insist on shoving down our throats.

I don’t understand why people watch this crap. Lets watch a show about perfect people complaining about their lives. And lets watch them while they make-out with eachother… could this country be any more voyeristic?

I totally lost interest then… it was too much “Road Rules” and that stupid show where they put 6 bums together in a real nice house, and then stirred them up… Well at least we got to meet “Puck.”

I still wish they would go back to just showing videos… I would watch then… Now, all I ever seem to see is some sort of Spring Break show with barely clad people dancing to house music (they’d dance to an opera if they thought they would be on TV)…

I used to get a lot of my “new” artists from MTV… now, you have to be huge to even get a mention…

hahahaha Puck was awesome…

the only good character from that series…
