I had been told, and had been planning all day yesterday to go
my wife’s g-ma’s birthday party. The wife and I actually argued
about it a little, because I didn’t know anything about this party until
yesterday. So, in my usual reaction to that: “you never told me
about this.” she replies: “yes I did! I told you weeks ago!” Since
this is USUALLY not the case, I believed her, but was still annoyed
because it was going to throw off my weekend. :sigh:
She even said to me: “we don’t have to stay long.” So, I
immediately drift into the mentality that I would go and sit in the
corner, drink a few , and go home to get back to work.
So, we get to the party (late as usual), which is being held at one
of the local community halls (Legion) and when we walk in, I
notice EVERYONE is standing there staring at us. And they all yell:
SURPRISE!
Now it took me a full minute at least, standing there in shock in
front of 50+ people, trying to decipher that this part was FOR ME.
It was a surprise party for my 30th birthday, which was
already past (march 7), so I truly had no idea, no clue.
It was a total surprise, and my sneaky-little wife had done
an awesome job setting up the whole thing for me. She even
went to such lengths as pretending to go to work, and spending
the night at her mother’s house so they could get the food and
decorations ready. (She’s a nurse and always works nights, so
this was not unusual to me.)
I still can’t believe it…it was very surreal.
No one has ever thrown a party for me like that, let alone a
surprise party. I had a great time, great food, and I owe it all to
my wife and mother-in-law.
It was one of the coolest day’s ever. :beam:
