Online Portfolio CV 2003

Hello my name is Paul Dickson. I am a 21 year old male originally from Adelaide.

On May 2nd this year I completed my Diploma in Multimedia at Prides Business College, South Australia.

I am currently looking for an opportunity to secure a Full Time/Part Time position with a respectable Australian Design Company. I am available to fly anywhere in Australia for serious interviews. If given the opportunity I would be more than happy to move to a different location.

Basically I am looking to find a nice group of people that work well together. I love to work in a team environment because I believe that is where you see results in a shorter time frame compared to when you work alone.

I am capable of producing all types of Multimedia. I really enjoy Flash Web Design & 3d Animation & Modeling. If you have a look at my webpage you will see what I can do for your business.

Please feel free to visit my Online Portfolio at http://www.dicksoncreativedesigns.com

If you have anything else that you would like to ask me please do not hesitate to ask!

im from australia too  i thought this was site check…u want us to critique your site??? world cup…world cup…

the more input the better, still needs work I know, trying really hard to secure a job postion at the moment.

Critiques are welcome

hmm alrighty, well i think that its a nice clean design and layout but the thing that concerns me the most is the text at the first page, it looks as if it has had its height scaled down and it is a bit hard to read  other than that, looking good

For a start I’d make the text bigger on the pre-loader its tiny. I like your menu, very smooth. Some of your text is very ‘rouhg’ on some pages I don’t know if you intended that but I suggest you change it. Some of your 3d work is good, excellent in fact - I’m just looking at the still renders of the 3d character. Good but could be better with some more development.

by the way have you tried freelance graphic work or do you have your eyes on getting a more secure placement working for a firm?

Theres a lot of money in freelance, usually more than perm work.

I thought about doing some freelance work. Did not really know what prices to charge & I’m sick of working alone.

Securing a permanent position will allow me to work with people. There is still a lot more that I would like to learn & the professionals are usually the ones who have quick answers. As you know in our industry there is always something new & exciting. Freelancing is a possibility but at this stage I just want to work for a respectable company.

Im happy to work on a minimum wage. I expect the starting wage to be small but we all have to start somewhere.

Do you do freelance work in the UK?

dunno if it’s been said, but under “static” in the menu, you have “Espinage”…

isn’t it “Espionage”…?

thanks eilsoe

I’m not the best speller, hopefully I will be getting some new specs tomorrow :nerd: depending on what my OPSM lady says at the consultation

You could get rid of your table and use CSS to center everything from your body tag and then just use a div tag for your border.

@ spufi

not too sure I understand what you mean…

Sorry about the border comment because I thought I saw you defined one, but it’s actually part of your Flash. See attachment for code. You will also want to check out this link to see how to do a more valid way of the object tag for Flash.

thats cool…wicked link btw…so much i have still to learn…a huge brain overload atm

I was very impressed with your starting layout. When I first started flash, I didn’t have the guts enough to jump into a flash site.

The menu’s sleek transition is a real eye-catcher for me; however, some areas have small text, and I have to enlarge your site’s flash file to see it, and even then, it’s partially blurred and distorted. I’d fix that by increasing your font by about 2px. Other than that, I am very impressed.

Keep up the good work!

Take care,
Chris

@ Xzander

I was a little worried about the text. I design at 1600x1200 & the font is pretty small even at that resolution.

I wanted to keep this site as simple as I could. Ok its not the best site on the net but its straight to the point. I spent about 2 months working on themes & in the end was my final piece. I will be uploading my other Portfolio ideas that I designed during my creation of my Portfolio. I named it Prototype 1 as it is really just to get my work viewable.

Thanks for all your comments! Much appreciated, have not recieved too much feedback as yet however I have had over 2000 hits so far which is a good thing.
