Opening flashmx files with flash 5

I have FLASH 5 version and I cannot buy FLASH MX. How do I open the FLASH MX files using FLASH 5.

Thanks to senocular, I use frhed to write FLASH MX actionscript in Flash 5 but I am unable to
i)use components meant for FLASH MX
ii)open any FLASH MX files

You can’t open Flash MX files in Flash 5. And components aren’t supported in Flash 5 as they were of course created in Flash MX so Flash 5 can’t support them.

Sorry man.

Note: if anyone replies to this thread suggesting illegal software, they are getting banned. I think everyone knows by now this forum does not support this.

If you havent yet downloaded and used up your 30 free days of the Flash MX trial, thats an option.

Alternatively, if you’re after code, opening up the fla in a text file should reveal most if not all the code in text (readable) format - just without much reference to where it should go.

Theres also Flashtoolset which can extract things such as images, sounds or other elements from files.

Otherwise, you might want to consider the investment. MX is a treat.

As a matter of fact, I find it quite normal that you can’t use components meant for FLASH MX or open any FLASH MX files… And if you’re gonna buy anything (which you don’t seem to want to do), I suggest you wait a bit for Flash MX 2

::drools over MX 2:: I can’t wait for that… gotta start saving!!!

Anyone know any rumours about MX 2?

I’ve heard nothing.

i used a free 30-day trial version of FLASH MX which was available on a computer cd but when i connected to the internet, the flash mx application shows the “Your 30-day trial period has expired”.

Why does FLASH MX show this error? How do I get over it?

It’s not an error, if it’s a 30 day trial and you are getting a “Your 30-day trial period has expired”, then that simply means your 30 day trial period is up. You will have to buy it now.
