Im in the process of creating a full flash website. Im running into a bit of trouble with optomizing the page for mac and pc. My animations run smooth on my home computer (pc) but while at school it loads slow and animates poorly on their macs (g4). Im also running into some trouble with my preloader actually preloading in safari, it just waits till its loaded and then skips it all together.
I know that there is a way to optomize flash files for macs… something like
while loading the pc version of the site on a mac its slow, but the mac version runs fine.
any ideas on some stuff i could do to get my movie running better, and platform specific optomization that would reason for him creating two versions?
You know I’m having the same problem with this site I’m working on right now. On my PC all of the animations run smoothly but on a mac they seem to lag. the address is:
only book five works right now but you get the idea. Does anyone know why this would happen? or how to fix it.
I think what sixstation was trying to overcome by having a mac version and pc version of their website the flash transparancy issue on macs. On the PC version they have that textured background but on the mac version they don’t. This is because older versions of IE on a mac can’t understand the transparency code that flash used when it publishes with a transparent background. They have since fixed this problem with IE6. I think thats the only reason why there are two versions. I would still like to know why Flash animations run slower on a mac than on a PC though.
