Painter 7

Anybody knows where to find/download/buy a good book to learn how to use Painter7. This program is so “big” to learn just by clickin here and there. Too much buttons to mess around with them.

Any suggestions??

Painter 7 like Painter 6 should have come with a manual. The one I got with 6.0 is very extensive and well formated to teaching the programs finer aspects.

if you bought it and didn’t get a manual… I’d complain. If you didn’t buy it… you’ll probebly have to slug through it and learn as you discover stuff. Painter itself is not really a well documented programs as these things go. I’ve never seen a book that details it yet.

I will be stopping by B&N in the next couple of days. I’ll be sure to take a look on the shelf to see if there is anything around that might help you out.

Sorry I can’t be of more help. I do know what you mean about it being an extensive program. 6.0 has so many features I can rarely keep track of them all. I’m usually looking things up to see how I can do them.

Well, you have been helpfull. I was afraid this answer would come up. I cannot find a manual even in the shops. Anyway if you were so kind to look for one for me i’d apreciate that so much, because mos of the books about software are written in english, and here, for programs such painter, wich are not really that popular as photoshop is really hard to find something. Maybe if you gave me a title i could buy through internet.

Oh, and i wish i had buy it! A friend of mine told me about it and made a copy for me for testing. (not pretty legal, i know, but if i like the soft i finally buy it. I only need to check it in advance, because my salary is not that big to buy just for checking. Sure you know what i mean :stuck_out_tongue: )

Anyway, do you think is that good to buy it or do you think you can do the same stuff with photoshop?? I’m afraid painter is much powerfurl in some aspects. What do you think, as owner of painter 6 and a manual???

yeh, i’ve wonder the same thing many a time. havent really gotten to use it, just a few times here and there. anything you can tell us about it?

ditto. Screw em if they don’t like it. I know if I don’t like the program, it goes right off my machine and probebly wont ever be tested again.

I do think that painter has many features that photoshop doesn’t, but out of the two, Photoshop is probebly a lot more useful. If you want to draw though, and you want to gain a real sense of texture which is the same as the none virtual medium, then Painter is the only way to go. That is to say… if you want your cartoon to look like it’s drawn in crayon… Photoshop just wont cut it.

Edwin is really the one to ask about this. He’s a very experienced Photoshop user and also has Painter6.0.

I will take a look around for books… but like you and I have already said… pickins are scarce.

forgot… another nice feature of Painter 6.0 at least and I assume of 7.0. It will use any Photoshop plugins. Likewise it will import and export to Photoshop’s psd format. I really believe that the programs are both good and are fated to be used together.

for instance… the magic wand tool in painter does not even come close to the one in Photoshop.

Screw em if they don’t like it. I know if I don’t like the program, it goes right off my machine and probebly wont ever be tested again.

he, he… we speak the same languaje here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for those opinions. I will try to mess a bit with painter to see if something comes up. I will let you know who won the fight, my patience or the bloddy million of buttons!!!

Thanks David! Oh, and thanks for the “bookseek” too. =)

I like Painter a lot, but rarely use it (mostly concentrating on Flash & backend nowadays…)

Here’s the results of the 1st page only Google comes up when searching for “painter tutorials” (might wanna try…):

there’s one link in there where you can order a training cd, haven’t looked at the price…

photoshop is amazing.,… but if your an artist…like the way painter outputs is really intuitive…the only problem is it has a lot of like variable parts that can seem overwhelming. plus i hate how photoshop doesnt have an add water option like painter. that thing kicks so much ass. I think its a good idea to have both.
