Password Protect CD's

I was wondering: is it possible to write a cd, but somehow make it password-protected of some sort, so noone can view what’s on the CD without giving a password? :beam:

Can you do this with NERO, or are there any special programs out there for this specific purpose?

Or any other ways are appreciated as well.

Cheers.

how about just throwing the cd in a safe? =)

:run:

Stick the contents into a .zip and password protect that (not fantastically secure though).

Alternatively, throw it in the safe like the man says…

:run: :run:

What you do is, make a bunch of folders (no less than 1000000 I’d say) and give them all weird unrelated names. Then put your original CD contents into one folder, and stick stuff in the other folders so they’re all roughly the same size. Then tell only a select few people which folder is the right folder. The only downside to this method is that you have significantly less space on your CD for actual data. :thumb:

Seriously though, I just found this, that might interest you:

Aahaa, that trial version is sneaky! I bet if you use the program, encrypt CD’s when you burn 'em, you can’t use them anymore when the trial expires :stuck_out_tongue:

then you kinda stuck :smirk:

theres no real way of protecting data so dont waste your time bro, best thing to do is put it in a password protected rar or zip which can still be cracked but it will take days even weeks in some cases

How about zip your files and password protect them.

Then open the zip file in a Hex editor and and some garbage to the file.

Then no one can attempt to hack the zip file, and even if they do pull the password from it. If they try to open it it will be corrupt…

hmmmm this might work for archiving files you won’t use, cause it would be a pain in the arse for files you use often… Not that it would work…

And how will he go about extracting the file and not have it be corrupted???

Ummmm…

In the hex editor he could grab 10 lines from anywhere and add it to the front of the file.
The just delete the first ten lines when he wants to open it.

I don’t know… I have only used a Hex editor a couple of times, and it was that long ago I dont even remember what I was doing…
Up to no good no doubt…

thats a good idea but happens if he forgets or deletes a line hes not supposed to he will render the file useless for himslef and others as well lol

Unless it was child **** and I was really scared of getting caught I wouldn’t do it. :frowning:

Use gnupg… slight downside is that you need to know how to use it and all and the other person needs GnuPG as well - but meh, the FBI couldn’t crack it
