I’m using Illustrator CS2 to design a t-shirt for someone. The client has a design where there are letters filled in with diagonal lines (similar to the pattern in Fireworks called Diagonal lines). There is no pre-existing pattern in Illustrator for diagonal lines, so I’m trying to make my own. What I’m doing is making a line with the line segment, then copying by alt-dragging until I have a large amount of lines. Once I have them all evenly spaced, I select them all, then rotate the selection to make them diagonal. I then hit Define Pattern to make a pattern. When I go to fill the letters in, the fill is sparse, and not uniform at all. I even tried making the lines that I’m using for my pattern take up the whole artboard, and I still can’t get it to work right. Any help would be appreciated.
