Pavement light effect

Hi!
Does anybody here have an idea or example to make a light effect on a pavement at night? This kind of light shouldn’t be very smooth neither, especially from the old street bulbs.
I hope you understand the effect.

I don’t get it…

If you are only using flash, I would open up your color mixer, rightclick on the paint bucket and change it to gradient, change both colors in the color mixer to white and when you have the right one selected, drop the alpha (bottom dropdown number above the color tabs) to 0%. Then, with a dark background, make a cone shape with the point at the top and play around with the gradient fill.

Otherwise…Photoshop?

Thanks Freddythunder,
I wanted to give a little more life to the scene as well. This is an example of a real scene I found. Yes, gradients is the answer. What about that little movements?

What do you mean by ‘what about that little movements’?

I wonder just how we can give some life to the scene by light?

If your scene is going to look like that, I would think about moving the shadows of solid objects in unison to act like the light is moving. However, a streetlight would be fixed, so that would look kind of funny. The only thing that I would try, without using animation of people/animals, would be to move leaves and shadows of leaves around to simulate wind. It would be really time consuming to make the effect look real, but it would look kind of cool, I think.

Thanks Freddythunder for the ideas,
Just one more question: “moving leaves”. Since the leaves are bitmaps here, is it better to “draw” other leaves or just moving bitmap leaves (png transparent ones)?
Once I tride to move and rotate a tree branch (bitmap), but it didn’t become so good even with AS.

Yeah. I would go in and sample some of the bitmap leaves then import them into flash as pngs or gifs. You’ll need a lot of them and you may want to trace the bitmaps when you go to make the movieClips in flash so that the process is less processor intensive. It’s easier for computers to move around vectors than bitmaps.

Since you’re there so early in the morning (it’s 6.45 AM in Europe  ),
I’m not so good in drawing in flash :frowning:
Could you give me some words about making a cone shape, please?
