Preloaders

Ok I’ve just finished a flash movie and I’m just getting round to publishing it.

First off though I need to add a preloader, I’ve had a search round and found some tuts on preloaders and I understand the concept.

But my question is this, how does everyone integrate their preloaders in to their movies.

Do you just stick the preloader on a seperate layer at the beginning of the movie and then just set everything to start after this, or do you put the preloader on in a seperate scene or movie clip?

This is the first time I have published a flash movie, so I just want to get it right first time.

You can do preloaders both ways, you can either set it up on a layer at the beginning of the main timeline, or in a diffrent scene.

I normally place mine at the beginning on the main timeline in a seperate layer, i haven’t encountred any problems so far!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I put mine in Scene 1 and have it play Scene 2

I have had no problems with that method.

I also find it easier to edit one or the other.

It is all dependant upon personal preference. Both ways work.

Uuh…i usually set my preloader in the same layer as the movie, but the movie starts att frame2 and frame1 is my loader (with a stop-action of course)

Scenes r so much flaky Lost! I use Frame Labels instead.

It is all personal preference h88, it makes no difference if you put the preloader in a scene, or on a frame of your main movie, it all works the same in the end.

personaly I like having a self contained movieClip that has all my preloader script in it. Then I just drop it into place and tweek it to suit the situation. As has been said though, it’s all personal choice. I do tend to believe though, that certain kinds of setups work better or worse for certain situations. (though I don’t believe that I can explain how that is)

If you put it like that, believe it or not… I think putting it in another scene is probably the worst way out of all of them.

Worst or not, I am more comfortable with putting it in another scene, so since I am more comfortable with it, I choose it as my personal preference :beam:

I think that it may work BETTER that way for certain situations. Certainly for organizational purposes a new scene is the way to go.
