Print Screen for Photoshop

Half the time when I try to paste something that I’ve Print-Screened, it won’t paste into Photoshop CS2. I have to restart the whole program to make it work. Has anyone run into this problem and found a fix?

Make sure its updated to the most up-to-date version of CS2 would be the only solution.

I’m gonna guess your waiting for CS4… so you only have a few more months to wait for that.

I don’t know why this would be happening though maybe its something with your OS. Does print screening into paint or a similar program work as expected?

//edit, it would help if you told us the OS… I forget which one you use XP Vista or OSX?

Well temp, i’m betting you can scratch OS X off the list of potential OS’s as screenshots automatically output to your desktop as a png

I have XP and Vista. This problem showed up in both OS’s.

This is but a single screenshot option in OSX.
Command+Shift+F2 to copy the screenshot marquee to the clipboard.
Create new PSD; it will match the clipboard content dimensions.
Paste.
OSX works correctly if you know how to use it.

what? single? so what about screen shotting specific areas? (command-shift-4) or screenshotting a specific window (command-shift-4 + space)

I count four

faster shuts up about his os x now

English 101:
"this is but a single screenshot option"
Implies that in addition to the forementioned option, there are other options to create screenshots.

However, this is irrelevant to the topic at hand, which questions the basic capability for OSX to natively copy screenshots to the clipboard, then subsequently paste them into a PSD, which it can do, in various ways.
Your original statement was correct, but it was incomplete, and the assertion that Screenshots cannot be copied to the clipboard in OSX was false.

BTW, according to the logic in your assertion, he should be “scratching XP and Vista from his list of potential OS’s”, since both exhibit the screenshot problem with Photoshop. LOL

…anyway guys…:sigh:

I have had the same problem at time after hours of print screen work. I found that if i ‘Purge’ (edit/purge) my clipboard; the print screen pasting into photoshop works again without restarting photshop.

Err, reading 101

I never said it couldn’t, i said by default it doesn’t. Thats not to say it doesnt, but the most used, most common method of capturing screenshots is to hit command-shift-3.
I never “asserted” that this functionality doesn’t exist.
mmkay?

Also, forum ettiquette 101:
Don’t sound like a jerk, KTHXBAI (faster is also a hypocrite)

Edit: I know how to “purge” now.

The following statement provides additional information regarding your knowledge of OSX screenshot methods.
It also distinctly conveys the impression that you feel you are redressing a fallacy or ommision in my post.

Please explain what you is misleading or untrue in the following post.

Please support your original assertion that OSX should be stricken from a hypothetical list, in the context of this thread, simply because it can optionally write screenshots to the desktop in png format.
I fail to see the logic.

cheers,
Snick

enough guys… any more of this useless debating crap and i will close this thread. :a:
