That looks cool. when their cost is in the 3000 range, I might buy one.
it is pretty cool, but it’s not that new. i took a class last semester and we all got to design objects in 3d programs and then rapid prototype (3d printer) them at that company. it was cool. i guess they have been doing it for a few years or so. i dont see it catchin on in homes, but hey, ya never know. 
there is a class @ MIT, where you design an item, say a bike, and you can print it out…
you design a new toy, email it to your sister, and she prints out the toy and uses it immediately…
like rg said, it isn’t really new, just public new…

yeah rev, the class i took was just around the corner in boston, i think some dude who developed it from MIT came and talked to us.
for how interesting that stuff was, that class was still incredibly boring. i used to fall asleep at my computer. i made a 3d model in my sleep once. looked a wreck, but hey.

plz… That wasn’t half as cool as the holograph we saw @ comdex. We were leaving the Kevin Mitnick keynote and I stopped in the middle of the showroom and just glazed over. I asked my friend “is that cell fone spining in the air?”. It was the most trip out thing I had ever seen. Let me see if I can dig up a link.

It isn’t really meant for gaming but more for advertising. Like say your crusing through the mall and you look up and there is a holographic car above your head rotating and spinning around. Now that would be a trip. It is meant more for 3D images.
If its as real as the websites say it is, my first reaction to a car floating above my head would not be “lets buy it!”, it would be closer to “AH! GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY!”
either way, you know some geek is going to make a gaming legend out of it.

I can see it catching on eventually. Pretty much everything is going on line, so as Rev said, one day we will be able to e-mail toys to releatives and they can print them and use them!
Imagine being able to buy a design, then have your own machines make it for you! That would be soo cool 
yeah, i see your point, but not with this technology. they’d have to improve on it a lot first. the materials they use in RP arent materials that would be useful for anything much other then construction models and stuff. i mean, you wouldnt want your kid to play with it. and you wouldnt want to fix your car with it. not yet anyway.
yeah yeah, i know that. The technology has a LONG way to go before it becomes more usefull. But it will catch on in the home one day.

It isn’t worth the wait. They seem to have used swift. Would’ve been faster if they used quicktime.
