This is something I need to do for school… one of the questions I have to answer is this:
Why do you think propaganda and media are necessary in our society?
I’m not searching for the most obvious answer: “because people need to know”. Based on what Noam Chomsky (see http://www.zmag.org/chomsky/index.cfm for information) said, I need to have something more “deep” than that. Do we really hear the truth on CNN? Aren’t we just dumb people that don’t think and absorbe whatever is on TV nowadays?
It’s not an easy question, but if someone could write his/her thoughts on this, it’s already a great help!
