Is it logical to do all the design in flash? I’ve a cool design for a website that I wanna set it up in flash but i can’t get the bewel, emboss and shadow effects. What is the best way to import those images and manipulate them in flash.
Hi,
Shadow effects are quite straightforward in flash, not sure about emboss tho’. best way that I have found is to make your graphics in something like photoshop, save and optimize for the web and import them into Flash as bitmaps/jpegs.
you can drag and drop directly from photoshop into flash, or you can import a native psd file (the best way to import graphics, imo)
a couple pointers:
1.) flash won’t take an alpha transparency from ps
2.) to make a mask for an irregular shape, make an alpha channel mask in photoshop–flash will ‘see’ the mask and import it along w. your graphic
3.) you’ll need a composited image, so either duplicate image/flatten, or save/close and import into flash
you can bring as many psd graphics as you want, but just be careful of final file size…
good luck,

I have found that using the native macromedia fireworks format (.png) works best… it preserves transparancy and the file size almost disappears once you compile your movie. I just don’t see any other options now that I have found this.
you can emboss in flash. If you want to have an image normal and embossed, it will save you from having two images imported. Instead youd just need the one.
