PSA: Recent windows update causing Explorer.exe crashes

The Windows 10 KB4013429 update (installed 03/16/2017), for me has been causing Explorer to crash every time I interact in any way with a TypeScript (.ts) file, even if just hovering over one with my mouse. Apparently this affects other applications as well, particularly video apps. The source is CompPkgSup.DLL. It took me some digging to figure out what was going on and who was responsible, and once I hit CompPkgSup.DLL I was able to find this post which has some solutions:

I took the uninstall update route, which may not be the safest, but I’m assuming an official fix will be coming down the lines at some point. My computer is simply unusable if I can’t even hover over a .ts file without explorer crashing.
