Do commercials actually make you want to buy something, or do they annoy you so much that you dont even care.
i was thinking about this last night, By telemarketing, it just makes people mad, and ignore everything that they say, Isnt this pointless. I mean, spending all of that money to advertise and have no one listen.
I haven’t watched tv in about a year… i probably watch about half an hour a week… and thats with friends and stuff… cuz im wierd like that… but… from past experience, i hate commercials.
I appreciate truly artistic commercials and really like them and stuff, but i like the commercial, not the product its trying to sell.
yup
go me
hey hey now. advertising and marketing keeps this economy going. it’s proven by independent and industry studies that people just don’t buy as much when ads stop running. and no buying means no money which means lower standard of living. and we couldn’t have that here could we?
but i have to say, i LOVE advertising and couldn’t see myself doing anything else. i knew even in high school that i wanted to do that. and OF COURSE there are annoying and some really bad ads out there, not to mention misleading ones (i have issues with some ethical questions in advt.), but all in all, advertising has always driven this economy. there are only so many products out there that don’t have to have much advertising. but most of them do. and it’s only going to get better…
so lay off the ad trash talk and give us some credit.

whats your opionion on this topic? **
uggh. you can’t base everything on your opinion. that’s a big advertising NO NO. companies have done that and failed.
the truth is that people do watch ads and read ads if they’re correctly targeted. look at any sales figures before and after advertising and you’ll see that sales are substantially higher after the ads run. but the main thing is that the message must be right and targeted effectively.
they’re pointless! though now we know what toothpaste to buy when we go to the store! The ones that don’t have commercials are probably worse than the other! But still… pointless!
But then again then I couldn’t go to the bathroom during a movie!
I might possibly buy something I’ve seen on an ad, if I haven’t seen it before and it interests me I might buy it.
That Honda ad is an example of a good ad. It’s like TV in its own right. Not only that, but it wasn’t filmed with any special effects, so it took 308 takes, or something like that!
And no, I don’t work for Honda’s marketing division!
well in england the channels that have adverts are free… and there are two channels without ads and every year you have to pay a ridiculas amount to view these channels…
they call it a TV licence and its illegal to view tv without one even though only 2 of the 5 channels need paying for… if that makes sense…
so i actually tolerate ads. id rather wotch them and not pay a sum of money then not wotch them and fork out.
