Situation:
I have been given the task to start seeking out some freelancers to work with our company. I know that there are a lot of excellent people on this board and of course I would not hesitate to start my search over here.
Questions:
I also know that there are some real talented minors on the board. What/how is the correct way to deal with them when hiring them (if possible at all) for freelance jobs. The company wants to make sure that they do pay their taxes, they want to make sure that their parents know what is going on and we want to pay fair/market rates.
I started thinking about the implications of hiring a minor and so far it does not look good. I have no experience with employee/employer laws. My boss does not want us to get in trouble by hiring minors.
The reason I ask all of this and why I even bother to bring this subject up is because there are a LOT of talented “kids” out there.
Other issues that I thought of having are commitment issues. Since this is not for fun and there are clients that are paying to get things done, I though that this might also be a big barrier to cross…
Does anybody have any insight on a situation like this?
Any advice, help, suggestion is welcome…
