Rant - I want this and this and this, you do it

Rant - ignore if you wish.

I don’t know if it’s me growing grumpier or some people growing more and more "requestive’ (don’t know if that’s a word), but lately I’ve been fed up a lot with people asking others to do complete things for them, and then complain if they don’t get helped immediately or if they don’t get helped at all - which to me seems pretty logical since they’re asking people do to entire things for them just like that.

For example.

I need a menu. I want this and this. Ok, cya later, someone make it for me in the meantime.

Isn’t someone gonna do it for me !?

Oh boo-hoo ! :a:

Ok, maybe not the perfect example. There has been a better one, though I can’t remember where it was and searching it didn’t give anything either.

It was pretty much the same, except this person had a whole list of things he wanted done. And then he complained when people didn’t do it for him.

What is wrong with these guys ? They expect people to do their job, and complain when other people refuse to do work that he should do in the first place !! Frustrating !

I know that this forum is here to help people, and I hope that I didn’t grow grumpier about helping people out. I turned down the knob on my rampage since people specifically requested, but I hope it hasn’t grown below zero barrier …

Though on the other hand, we’re not here to do their jobs !

ah… the return of the slackers… they’ve been quiet for some time now :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve had a few of those myself in the past (when I actually helped people…)

just do what everyone else does dude, point them to the nearest tut, if they start crying, point them towards google paradise.

I do, but they keep returning and saying “I can’t find anything”. You do a google, and you find the perfect tutorial in like 5 seconds. Happened to me the other day.

Voets I do knwo what you mean, esp in the server side forum…

I just ignore them, if they are too lazy to search and try things themselves I don’t help.

And btw- not sure if “requestive” is a word, but I make up words all the time

Does anybody with the graphics skills want to find or modify an image that can be used each time somebody requests us to do their work for them? Something similar to the hijack image that we can use when members continue to bug us even after we request them to make an effort

…and I told him I wouldn’t do it…
well, maybe some other “anybody” will…

I know whatcha mean, voets’

HAHA YES!!!

Unfortunatly i can only draw stick figures, but i can attempt it

this (noticed?) (attached)
or any of these…short and simple…:

you mean you dont want to take an hour of your time to write the code for him, so he can make tons of money off it ?

some people amaze me man, that’s what the job section is for. i love to help people but it’s obvious this guys just wants a hand out so he can get paid

I just eat their babies until they figure out they should figure out things for themselves!

The last straw for me with people like that was when I was on AIM one day (when I used to have one of my names in my profile) and I got a member who actually took the time to curse me out for telling them I am here to help them and not do the work for them.

Now I just tend to ignore requests like that altogether.

Yeah, it changes every day now that the olymics are here

I will look around and see what i can come up with.

Maybe a telescope or something that says “Search”?

You should talk with Syko about this kind of people, man, he’s been telling me stuff. Lemme look it up … here his story:

Yeah, these guys crop up every now and then. Rather than ask for help with a specific bit of code, a bug fix/code check or direction to a tute that might help, they’d much rather someone else did all the hard work and coding for them. :a:

I stopped answering them after a while, got fed up. :sure:
