[RANT] Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within

… sucks. :frowning:

Granted I’m still fairly early in the game, but it’s still a huge disappointment. I’ve known that they were going to make this one darker and more mature than Sands of Time, but after playing the first one I had built up some sort of trust in the game designers to do it properly. It’s like they’ve completely forgotten what made the Prince, what made the game great. He’s supposed to be the nice guy, saving the world and all that, in this wonderful Arabian atmosphere… There’s none of that! :frowning: They just made him more generic… I mean, just look at the his first line in each game:

It’s pretty clear that the whimsical storytelling side of this is gone. There’s no humour, no Farah, no light at the end of the tunnel. He’s not even really saving anyone this time around, the only one in danger is himself. He’s saving his own ***, and the way the story’s starting out, I don’t see any reason why I should be helping him, there’s no reason to empathize here.

So that was my rant. Well deserved, I believe, after constantly telling everyone that POP is my only reason to play games, and that it’s the greatest creation ever and no one in their right mind would dare mess it up. Bah. I’m going to give it some time, play KOTOR2 for a while, and then eventually come back to it or replay Sands of Time.
