if i want to resize my photographs from a 8 MB camera. Lets say i want them in 1000x700 size. How is this done without any quality loss…?

Well, you could make them a smaller size but a higher DPI.
if you are displaying the images on the web, then an image resolution of 72 dpi is adequate as this is what a monitor is… if you intend on printing them, keep the dpi high (depending on the quality that you want)…
the best thing is to check what resolution your camera imports the images in as and ensure that this stays the same throughout resizing…
go into photoshop and open your image… file>image>image size then enter 1000 and 700 in the appropriate boxes…
Making it a straight up 1000 by 700 would most likely distort the height and width proportions. You would be better off resizing the larger of the two to the desired size and letting the computer pick the other one that is proportionate to the original size of the photo then crop the picture to the desired dimensions.
yeh… or else use the direct selection tool and set it to a fixed pixel size of 1000 x 700 and cutting and pasting into a new document
