I’m trying to download the DivX codec on my computer in class. My teacher said I can, I just have to find a way around the security. We are using Altiris Vision for the security. I goto the DivX website and when I click on download codec a little window pops up saying that the security wont let me download it. Were also running win2000 pro. Any help or work arounds are greatly apprechiated (spelling?)
Hmm… I’m not familiar with that system or else I’d give you a backdoor path… Lemme look into it and see if I can find anything.
Is the security prog. on your computer or on another computer?
appreciated
it’s cool m8
The security (Altiris) is on my computer :tie:
Why not just turn it off?
The security is preventing me from doing that. I click on the icon on the task bar and it needs a password
Oh, nevermind, your teacher would see you turn it off ;>
He doesnt care. He wants me to find a work around. But when I right click the icon and click exit, it then asks me for a password
Allright… So if it is password related you can most likely dig through your registry and find the individual password key to open it up…
Since it’s a school system they typical put low level security items on it instead of anythign fancy that blocks their registry data entry…
u can disable it from the startup and it wont load on restart, if u dont see it in start>programs > startup u have to delete it from the registry (but it’s on your own risk) i would have done that.
I dont have registry acess :hr:
I do have acess to the hard drive tho. My teacher just said I cant delete it tho
strange, do u get an error after typing “regedit” in run msg box?
Im downloadin the program right now… .>
Says that has been blocked by my admin
Download, and execute this program (since msconfig isnt with win 2000 you gotta dl it).
Check the startup and see if it’s there, or check “Services” and see if it’s there.
hmmm… wel that sucks !!
ah not talking about the program u uploaded prodigy, was refering to the other post.
Another way of turning of services is to go to the control panel > adminstration tools > services << in there you’re gonna have like 25-30 different services that are running, just turn off the one that has something to do with the security prog.
When I try and download the attachment it says
“Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded”
prodigy, I dont have acess to the Control Panel :trout:
