Scratchdisk full? (what does it mean)

Hi, Im new to photoshop and i just tried cropping an image and it said ‘scratchdisk full’ What does it mean and how can i fix it?

its the memory that photoshop uses… you probably have it on the same drive as windows…
try Edit>Purge
and if that doesnt help move photoshop scratchdisk to another drive that have more space…

thank you!

I use CS2 and I had something weird happen to me a few days ago. While attempting to crop at a certain size and change in resolution PS froze up. Eventually I had to reboot.

When I started up PS again I could not create a new document or save a document because my scratch disk was too full. So I checked and sure enough the disk was full. That was wierd because it is a big disk and I did not add anything to it.

I tried to defrag thinking that would help but it could not defrag because there was not enough free room.

Stumped, I went looking on the drive for the offending folder. Eventually I found it deep in the PS files. PS had created a temp file that was exactly the size of the free space on my disk.

I deleted the file and rebooted. Everything is fine now.

I am not saying that this is your problem, just thought I would share it.

.

I fixed mine by changing the scratch disk from startup to c:/ and d:/ then i also changed how much memory photoshop was allowed to use!

Yeah, I reassigned the scratch disk after that happened.

that happened to me and i just cleared off some of my stuff to my :d\ drive
