Site of the Week (Oct 20 - 25)

If you wish to be considered for the SOTW for October 4 - October 10, 2003, please read the summary of rules:

  1. Reply by the end of Friday, October 25 to be considered for this week’s award.

  2. Include the URL and your email address.

Only the webmaster/creator of the site can submit.

Only one submission per person per week.

Submissions are capped at 10 each week, so don’t wait or hesitate until the last minute.

Include a brief synopsis of your site inluding its purpose, or maybe some features you wouldn’t want anyone to miss.

  1. Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.

  2. While it is understood that sites are perpetually under construction, please submit only complete sites. Do not submit a site that is less than 80% finished.

  3. Submissions must be actual websites with sections and content. Examples of ineligible include (but not limited to) flash games, movies, etc.

  4. There will be a private poll among the moderators and a winner will be announced.

  5. No critiques or feedback is allowed in the submission thread. If you wish a concentrated critique of your site, you may start a thread in Site Check. However, mod critiques will be posted when a winner has been selected.

For more information or questions, please refer to the Official SOTW Rules. Once you have read and understand the rules above, you may submit your site to this thread. Sites not adhering to the rules above will be disqualified and deleted. Submitting your site is an agreement and acceptance of the rules.

Impact Design
Pretty cool site. The design style with the arrows and rectangles seems a little bit overdone on many sites. Besides that minor issue, the site is really good. I like how the menu appears and, if another pane is near the menu, both of them collide and bounce around.

RobbieSeayBand
Great colors! The background image is fantastic. The layout and other aspects of the site are well done.

Sober People Suck
The loading scene was a little overdone with the matrix scene, and the fade-in/scaling of the image looked a little out of place. Also, 4 MB for a web site is a tad bit over kill wouldn’t you say so? The download stopped half-way, so I am unable to proceed anyrther.

Aleph
The colors and layout are fairly good. The sound on the rollovers and the pixelated image on the right may need to be fixed. Besides that, it’s a pretty decent site.

Tony “Thunder” Smith
Looks realy great! The simple white background contrasts really nicely with the darker colored content. The transitions and other aspects of this site are really great.

Elementz
Wow - great splash image, font selection, and color combination. The feel and look of the site is great. It fits a photography site really well. Great job on the images and textured look. You really need to inform people that the site will open in a new pop-up window. I see evidence of random pop-ups on the indusblue site also

Red Anchor Studios
Really nice preloader. The use of the ship’s color to show progress is very creative. I find the site to be brilliant. The use of faded images and darkish colors really suit your site well.

James Dean
The color combination seems to be a little off. The gray and blue shades could be improved on. Try some of the more non-default shades. Also some portions of the layout give the site too much of a “flashy” feel with aliased, blurry edges, etc. Overall the site is pretty good though! Just a few tweaks here and there, and your site should be even better.

Beyond Hit
Site wouldn’t load. I may review this later when I have time.

Tool Design
Really nice site. The colors and the futuristic high-tech feel are really excellent. The jelly-fish/virus like animation you have on the right of your header is great also.
