Site of the Week (Aug 31 - Sept 7)

If you wish to be considered for this week, please read the summary of rules:

  1. Reply by the end of September 7th to be considered for this week’s award.

  2. Include the URL and your email address.

Only the webmaster/creator of the site can submit.

Only one submission per person per week.

Submissions are capped at 10 each week, so don’t wait or hesitate until the last minute. Entries beyond the 10 entry limit will not be eligible for the SOTW for that particular week.

Include a brief synopsis of your site inluding its purpose, or maybe some features you wouldn’t want anyone to miss.

  1. Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.

  2. While it is understood that sites are perpetually under construction, please submit only complete sites. Do not submit a site that is less than 80% finished.

  3. Submissions must be actual websites with sections and content. Examples of ineligible include (but not limited to) flash games, movies, etc.

  4. There will be a private poll among the moderators and a winner will be announced.

  5. No critiques or feedback is allowed in the submission thread. If you wish a concentrated critique of your site, you may start a thread in Site Check. However, mod critiques will be posted when a winner has been selected.

For more information or questions, please refer to the Official SOTW Rules. Once you have read and understand the rules above, you may submit your site to this thread. Sites not adhering to the rules above will be disqualified and deleted. Submitting your site is an agreement and acceptance of the rules.

Hi,
This is the personal portfolio by me, a just 16 year old self taught webdesigner, freelancing on my sparetime.

Best wishes, kristian.

This is a portfolio site created to archive projects and to gain casual work as a freelance hobbyist. It should hopefully reflect that without appearing to lack direction or incentive. Also, it represents my enviroment.

Congratulations to **goodslice **for winning this week’s SOTW! You will be featured on the main page of kirupa.com for this week. You may also post a graphical award from this page: http://www.kirupa.com/gallery/awards.htm

Good job to all the participants. One of the valuable aspects of SOTW is to get valuable feedback about your site and get an idea of how well it stands beside some of the best on the web. Mod critiques will be posted shortly.

Kirupa :cons:

suki
Wow - really original, and the colors are really good. One thing I did not like was that all the content is displayed in a pop-up. Some of the fonts (pixelish ones included) were blurry. The changing background when you click, for example, photos really adds a nice touch.

liquid
The interface looks excellent, and the photos are top-notch. The way the new navigation buttons appear below another range of nav. buttons is great also. Some of the white colored-text in areas such as “what are people saying” was a bit difficult to read.

celeste
Another really good site. Very original, and the graphics and use of cartoon-based animation is really great.

skeggia
Your splash page has too many random things on it, the stat counter hurts the professionalism of the site, and the broken image link to iGraphic kinda detracts from the site also. Besides that, the site looks nice. You may want to work on the colors - especially on the areas where the red/white shapes meet the blue background.

lain-dez
Cool intro 3d shape! Besides that, the site was a bit too simple. The colors seem to be a bit dull also. Try creating some contrast by shifting away from largely yellow/brown color shades for the content areas.

kristian
The splash page looks brilliant! The colors and the clown’s rollover effects were really well done. I really like this site. The blinking lights kind of shift the focus away from the content and act as a distraction. Also, some of the cursive/stylized font was a bit difficult to read.

jdl
The introductory dog moving around was a bit annoying. Also, your home page has waaay too much action going on such as the bird moving and the nav. text flying in. Besides those gripes, your site is quite nice and original.

goodslice
Wow - great site. The colors and the images work together really well =)

dstripe
Really nice site. I really like how the flowers seem to grow and multiply. The navigation was simple. Good work!

iloveitaly
Really nice site. The colors go well, the bordered postcard like effect looks really good. The transition effects are nice, but you may want to replace the vectorized-looking background images with actual, untouched images. I think that may look nice.
