Hey, I’m trying to setup my web domain mail on my Outlook Express. It’s a POP3 account, I configured it right so that it receives mail fine, but outgoing mail from the server screws up and gives me error messages:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: ‘Asian Illusion’, Server: ‘mail.asianillusion.com’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I’ve tried to configure the Outgoing (SMTP) Mail to asianillusion.com, but same problem
I had it working before on my Win 98, but when I upgraded, it doesn’t anymore, but I think I will contact my hoster, but he’s busy right now upgrading my service
If you’re using Outlook Express, go to Tools/Accounts and select
your email account. The click Properties/Servers. At the bottom
of that tab, you will see a checkbox labeled “My Server requires
Authentication.” Check it.
You can check the settings if you like, but the default setting is to
use the same login info as you incoming mail server. that’s
normally going to be correct. Should work now.
As an aside, there are huge security flaws in smtp, so sometimes
that service is cutoff or blocked.
