So I had jury duty today

…and it wasn’t as bad as I had expected. I was expecting DMV-like service, but everyone was very friendly, and the judge excused me from serving because I’ll be away on travel for the next week

The case that I might have been put on was a 1st degree murder trial that might have lasted about 4 weeks.

Has anybody else had to go through this?

:}

Got called, but was told to call in on a monday. I called in, and they said I didn’t have to go. Looking forward to my next one.

When you were talking to the judge, where you like “do you know who I am? I’m practically an internet celebrity!”

Ha. You’re lucky you got off… :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t serve yet. :thumb:

With my record. I doubt I will ever get called up :thumb:

 @ fester…
it takes them 4+ weeks to figure out what to do with a person who killed someone? gosh…

because you and a group of other people have the power to either imprison a person for a looong time, or clear him completely  I think you’d want to be ABSOLUTELY sure that you’re doing the right thing.

I really wouldn’t enjoy having to make such a decision, glad there’s no jury duty here in DK

as Homer Simpson said the trick to get out of jury duty is

…tell them your prejudice against all races

:thumb:

, Rab.

Did you get a free lunch, K? My maths teacher says that lunches that he got are great.

Was it all 24-like?

^lol
no jury duty here in the phils, what does it feel like?

Twelve Angry Men, anyone?

I’ve been called 6 times the first 5 of the 6 I was a hippy and I looked as bad as the person on trial. Was dismissed each time.

The sixth time I had to serve, by then my hair was short and I had a job where they made you dress casual rather than Jeans and T-shirt.

That case was pretty fun, it involved drugs and attempted murder. We set our guy free though. He was either a better liar than the other scumbags or truly innocent. When he broke into tears and they didn’t I just couldn’t convict him.

Sorry, I forgot to mention he didn’t have a record. The people used against him 70% of them were currently in jail or prison for other offenses and were in their jumpsuits fresh from their cell.

I think he was one of those people in the wrong place at the wrong time. His lawyer was awesome. You haven’t seen a court case on TV that is as good as the real thing.
