A lot of software isn’t memorable because it’s powerful. It sticks because it feels easy to come back to after a long day, with fewer decisions and less friction than everything else.
That’s not just polish. It changes whether people trust an app enough to make it part of their routine, even when there’s a shinier alternative sitting right there.
What makes an app feel like that for you?
For me it’s when the app has muscle memory and doesn’t punish you for being tired—same layout every time, no surprise pop-ups, no “we redesigned everything” nonsense.
Lol yeah, some apps legit feel like your “hub world” you keep warping back to between doing actual life stuff. i catch myself opening the same two or three just for the vibe, not even because i need anything.
Okay so this is exactly why I keep my “hub” apps boring-looking on purpose — if the UI is too cozy I end up idling there like it’s a loading screen and suddenly 20 minutes are gone.
