Some more info on "the Phantom"

http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/08/27/hln.game.phantom/index.html

Looks like people are starting open their eyes find out some info on this new game system. CNN seems to think it may be too good to be true, I guess time will tell.

we will see… I’ve often wondered why there wasn’t a game subscription service… especially with everyone wanting to play multiplayer games over long distances…

hmmmmm…

Woah, cool, you download the games. But thats not exactly new if you know what I mean Anyway, this thing is basically a super computer that hooks up to your TV. Uh, genius.

well there was before - “the sega channel” tried it - but it didnt work.

I guess with high speed and what not now, this is going to be interesting. I still dont like the idea of having to “upgrade” your system though… we all know how well add-ons sell for current game systems…

hm…infinium labs…thoriphes labs…phantom console…hm…

like this?

Thanks and your welcome.

Here’s my favorite part of the article:

What the competition is saying about Phantom:

Microsoft (Xbox): “It’s difficult to draw any conclusions about its place in the industry.”

Sony (PS2): “We are going to have to pass.”

Nintendo (Gamecube): “Nintendo welcomes Infinium Labs to the industry and wishes them luck.”

When I read these quotes, I couldn’t believe how well they fit their parent companies!

Microsoft: this comment is just dripping with big corporate ho hum no comment. They manage to say an entire sentence without saying anything, and on the fencepost they can plot their next business move.

Sony: American #1 to the max. Sony’s Playstation 2 is by far the best success out of all 3 current consoles, Sony knows it, and Sony will tell you about it. (Yes, I know Sony is based in Japan). But from the system that brought us Grand Theft Auto, what would you expect?

Nintendo: Polite and totally confident. Nintendo knows they aren’t going anywhere.
