Something Weird With Previewing

Whenever I try and preview a fading text I have made (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/fadingtext.htm), the preview shows only the text sitting there, doing nothing. When I’m in the workspace, and go to my first keyframe and hit enter, I can view it there and it works fine. But when I try and publish preview or ctrl + enter preview, it never works. I even published it and hosted it on my site, and it still didn’t work. I know I did it right, it’s just not working. Anyone know what’s up?

Can you post your fla?

:hr:

How do I go about doing that?

If it is small you can attach it to a message here. I think the limit is 74 KB or something. If it is big you’ll have to put it on a server and supply a link in a message here. Or you can email it to me (I have MX not MX2004) but then you risk only me looking at it

:hr:

make sure you embed font outlines

EDIT: They are embedded. And also, I have the .fla file hosted on my angelfire account, but how do I go about copying and pasting that here. I guess I don’t understand the method for getting .fla files on here.

Just put a link to the fla:

http://www.mysite.com/myfile.fla

when someone clicks on the link it should begin downloading.

Ok, does this work?

www.angelfire.com/extreme4/nemesispaintball/fading_text.fla

You only had the font outlines embedded on the very last instance of the textbox at the end of the tween. You need to embed ALL the font outline for ALL instances.

p.s. and yes - the file link worked perfectly.

Hmm i had this same problem, i use tint instead of alpha fade as u dont have to use font outlines.

That works too but then if you decide to change your background color then you have to change every instance of text on which you used tint. May not be a big deal - depends on the project. If using alpha then you set it up once and its always good to go.

How do I embed all the font? Where is that option?

And thanks a bunch guys, you’ve really been a help.
