I read a magazine article a while back that said Saddam’s sons were brought separately to two prison cells at the ages of 11 and 13, or something like that, given a pistol, and told to shoot a political prisoner they had tied to a chair in the middle of the room. I believe it was the younger son (Uday?) who emptied the entire magazine into the poor schmuck tied to the chair. The other son made do with just shooting his prisoner a few times. With great parental guidance like that, it’s no surprise they grew into such sick men, and no doubt that they deserved to be put to death like the rabid dogs they were.
I understand, Phil, but I don’t feel that human-ising any portion of war is a bad thing. The more human the ignorant slack-jaws of this world sees the rest of the Earth’s population, the better, in my opinion.
I agree that we could have seen the human angle quite a bit earlier tho… maybe we could have gone in there with a nonlethal attack…
