This is a total newbie problem I think. I only started using Flash MX like 2 days ago. I have the whole MX package(Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand) and I’ve read many tutorials. But, I need to know an easy (hopefully really easy cuz I’m a dumbass) way to make sound buttons ( like on a celebrity sound board). In fact thats exactly what I want to do. So if any one can help me please do. If yu direct me to a tutorial pleasetry to make it really basic. Like I said I’m a dumbass so far.:geek: Eventually I hope to make my site out of Flash and Shockwave.(-:
Just make a buttonsymbol. make you button states. Then make a new layerin that button symbol. Import a sound file into your over or down state and ther you have it. WHen you mouse over the button the sound will play.
Thanks. Now all thats left is to discover how to do all that. Also I’d like to have it so it plays the sound when clicked on, not moused over.
ok
draw a circle
drag a box around it
press F8
name it, and select “button”
hit ok
double click the button
you’ll notice 4 boxes, that say up, over, down, and hit
copy the frame from the up box and paste it into the others
insert a new layer
go to file, import
import a sound file (it will be in your library)
on the timeline, in the layer you inserted, highlight the frame under “down” and insert a keyframe (F6)
go to the sound panel, and select your sound from the drop down
That should take care of it

Also I’d like to set the buttons to specific distances from each other. Is there some sort of dimensioning tool or something?
I placed them ok but I have another prob: All I have is a background layer with a picture and a top layer with repeated instances of the button but as a symbol. I tried to attach specific sounds to seperate buttons but when I attach the first sound it applies to all of them! Any suggestions?
You can do it with AS, but you could just duplicate the button in the library and rename them. Then apply your sounds to each button and place them…will not mess the size of the file
AS? Also Should I put just put a text on top of the button or can I attach it to the button somehow?
AS = Action Script. flash programming language. When you are making your button symbol just make another layer on top of your existing layer and add text to that layer. Be sure to put the text in each state of the button. Just press F6 to copy to the next frame
