Sound for 10 secs that loops

Hey guys,
Im using flash 5 right and i want to put some music in the background of my site. I have this song and i really like the start of it… but the thing is, i only want the for 10 secs of it and loops right after 10 secs… but it keeps playing the entire song.

Can anyone put me out of my misery?

Yeah i gues you need to putt the Sound that you loaded in!!! Click the frame were you want it to stop then select te mp3 then klick stop!!! would work then!!!

Im sorry Spike but i dont understand… you need to be a little more slecific? I tried putting a “stop” action in the frame but it keeps playing. When i import the song, the entire song is imported, but i only what the first 10 seconds of it. I have stretched out the frames so i can see the actual music play (those wiggley lines)… So how do i cut the rest of the song out? So its just 10 seconds… and the mp3 file size decrease to only 10 seconds worth… which would be like 10-20kb or how ever much it is…

Also in the sound palette, in SYNC… what is stream? start? stop? loop? i dont know how to use these tools in regards to sound.

i have made an attachment if you or someone wants to know what i have done… might be able to see the problem then…

Thanks

Sorry that my english not that good!!! But this is it you got your Mp3 What Ever you have wav:S well let You take the frame were you want it to stop!!! So Choose like frame 10 putt it To Load the mp3 again

The end

i hope this is what your looking for other wise i would not know i gues!!!:link:

maybe you should sample the sound with a prog like cool edit…

get the loop that you require and import that…

that way you will have the loop you require…

i personally import the sound as a wav file coz the mp3 option has an annoying click sound when it saves…export from flash as an mp3…adjust compression settings as required

"Event synchronizes the sound to the occurrence of an event. An event sound plays when its starting keyframe is first displayed and plays in its entirety, independently of the Timeline, even if the movie stops. Event sounds are mixed when you play your published movie.

An example of an event sound is a sound that plays when a user clicks a button. If an event sound is playing and the sound is instantiated again (for example, by the user clicking the button again) the first instance of the sound continues to play and another instance begins to play simultaneously.

Start is the same as Event, except that if the sound is already playing, no new instance of the sound is played.

Stop silences the specified sound.

Stream synchronizes the sound for playing on a Web site. Flash forces animation to keep pace with stream sounds. If Flash can’t draw animation frames quickly enough, it skips frames. Unlike event sounds, stream sounds stop if the movie stops. Also, a stream sound can never play longer than the length of the frames it occupies. Stream sounds are mixed when you publish your movie.

An example of a stream sound is the voice of a character in an animation that plays in multiple frames.

Note: If you use an MP3 sound as a stream sound, you must recompress the sound for export. You can choose to export the sound as an MP3 file, with the same compression settings that it had on import. See Compressing sounds for export.

Enter a value for Loop to specify the number of times the sound should loop.

For continuous play, enter a number large enough to play the sound for an extended duration. For example, to loop a 15-second sound for 15 minutes, enter 60.

Note: Looping stream sounds is not recommended. If a stream sound is set to loop, frames are added to the movie and the file size is increased by the number of times the sound is looped. "

Anorak…

Sorry this is still confusing for me, i have no knowledge about how to use sound in flash so your going to have to explain it in lamen terms for me. I understanding of streaming, start…etc is much clearer now thank you.

But im still confused about the actual sound loop.
i have imported my sound (mp3) i dont have a wav. version of it. And the sound is in its own frame and layer… You can see the music run across the sound when u press play… but im still unsure how to make it stop after lets say 10 secs and go back to the start… and play it again…

When you explain it, if its not too much trouble. Could u please explain it as such:
import sound>put in its own layer and keyframe>then go here> then go there…

i know it sound childish but its really the only way i’ll get an explicit understanding about it.

Can ANYONE help?
post an example or something???

Or instructions on how to do it… i really wanna knooowww!!

:frowning:

I think the best solution Jakatta is to edit the song yourself. I use a program called Sound Edit 16 to edit my sound. Once i get the desired loop, I save it as an AIFF (Macintosh version of a WAV file) and then i import the loop into Flash.
