Hey everyone – hope someone can help me with this!
I have a flash file that’s calling a remote (.swf) file that contains a (.flv) video clip, into an MC on my main stage.
ie. MAIN FLASH MOVIE – CALLS TO REMOTE .SWF FOR .FLV PLAYBACK.
Sounds simple enough only, when I play the remote .swf on its own, the .flv it plays back looks spectacular – the blacks are black and the colors are rich.
But when I export the movie from my main stage and it calls the other .swf in, the quality of the .flv file is radically diminished. The blacks appear grey and the colors are drab!
What the??? Any clues?
** YES, I have checked my publish settings on both (.fla) files and they’re both set the same! I’m completely confused
Any help appreciated!
PLEASE, SOMEONE?? ANYONE?? AM IREALLY THAT DUMB !@(
(Bump)
I have never done it the way you mention above.
Im wondering if you are you recompressing a file which is already compressed.
here are two possible fixes (maybe)
1]
try compressing from your original movie to .flv from quicktime pro. then linking to it from your swf.
2]
Also try importing to flash at best quality then exporting to .flv to your desired size.
I am presumming by importing it to your flash timeline you are in effect compressing then recompressing when you export to .flv
Just a guess…:moustache
Thanks, moustache …
I am not importing the .flv into flash at anytime. it is being called by the .swf which is held inside an MC … so I’m not sure how it could be double-compressing? But I get what you’re saying!?? I’m in Sydney
I am with bootiteq on this one …
Stupid question on my part: Is the quality itself getting worse or does it just appear the flv is “washed out”?
Is the alpha/size setting of the swf or the MC that is calling the flv altered in any way?
'Cause I call my flv’s the same way and never had problems with it.
Maybe you have different quality flv’s laying around and the swf is calling the wrong one (that happened to me. My swf streams the flv with an absolute www.whatever.com adress and I forgot to upload the better quality one :beam:)?
My ideas …
OK, I would like to thank you both for your help. It seems this one has to go down in the category of … me=idiot! :afro:
You’re never going to believe this but I should make the confession! I found a layer the exact same size as my MC waaaaaay above the MC in my layer order that was a 5% grey shape the same size and position as my MC!!
Dumbooooooooooooooo 8-]
 great you got things to work :thumb:
ha!
I love it when that happens.
