Sup soul

I think I finally got the hang of the equalizer thing…

… I randomly fell asleep for 2 hours!

Cool, are you gonna use the bars as the equaliser then?

I’m gonna go and post a thread here with my designs for others to see now too…

:beam:

yeah, I’m going to use bars for the time being… I’m not going to have time to do anything fancy… bars will only be temporary… eventually I want people to have the choice of equalizers…

Cool

So whats happening on tomorrows show? You just gonna use the old design, and the use the new one next week?

My post is posted

no, I want to have the new design by tomorrow…

One of the things I’m finding out right now is that I cannot use Flash’s compression to make my files smaller

Here’s how I was doing it: I was just adding MP3s (which I had already reduced to 56K Monochannel, 11 Hz) to the library. I would have 2 Meg mp3s, and the total would be about 20 Megs…

… after I stuck them in Flash and exported the swf, Flash would compress the files further, reducing the total file size to 5 megs

However, I’m using Swift-MP3… and it doesnt do further compression, like doing it in flash would. So I’m ending up with 2 meg files that I wont be able to reduce…

And I’m left wondering how this is going to affect speed…

so that’s what I’m stuck now… I need a breather, and I’m going to work on the design… but I need your files!
thanks for helping me out.

Hey they’re sent long ago :stuck_out_tongue:

( 5 mins ago really :beam: )

Why don’t you do the same as the last show? That loaded instantly!

I cant do equalizer bars then…

Why? confused

because flash can’t process sound… basically, what Swifth Mp3 does is read the waveform information from the MP3, then writes variables, frame by frame, into a swf.

when you do an equalizer, you read these variables, and fix the size of bars to a corresponding size…
