swift3d or plasma?

i’ve been working with swift3d for awhile, and it is great for everything i do, but i was wondering what everyone opinion’s were about plasma? which is better? or what features do they have that are specific to them? thanks.

Swift is alot easier to use and is pretty straight forward. Plasma has most of the advanced modelling tools that 3ds max has. Basically you will be able to model better stuff. Swifts works better with flash mx in my opinion. But the draw back is swifts output is not true 3d so you cannot use it with lets say like Director. But the output looks very good. You can import plasma stuff into swift if you use .dxf file export. I would recommend both if your budget allows it. But I would have to say swift is better for the non traditional 3d artist. They both are good for the web. What is you main focus of study or use for the products print or web?

well i’ve been using swift for web projects, i use 3ds 5 for any print project i have.

i heard that you can import max 3d objects, such as obj, dxf into plasma, so if you have made anything in 3dstudio max you can render them out as vector for the web.

I have used both, though iam not a max fan, i found the modifiers absolutely awesome , like they are in 3dsmax. Iam more of a maya fan i think its better, but lets not get into that , lol. :stuck_out_tongue:

3dswift especially version 3, is a really great quick way to render out logos and objects to 3d that are created in illustrator. either rendering out wireframe or solid, with mulitple lights and reflective texture, even bitmap textures (version 3) . My choice would be swift3d for the total ease of it in what i use it for (making logos 3d! and illustrator objects), though for more complex models plasma is your tool of choice. the stacking capabilities of it is awesome, if your a fan of 3dsmax then you will jump into plasma no problems.

I would say plasma, purely because of Havok Dynamics, man, that is good ****, and easy to do as well, I use both, and Plasma is harder, but once you do the tutorials, it is much more poweful than Swift.=)
