Swift 3d v.3

I am about to purchase Swift 3D v.3 for 165.95.

Does anyone know of any reasons why i shouldn’t, or perhaps a place to get it cheaper?

Any advice about this program would be appreciated.

:crazy:

i posted a few examples of what swift3d can do here. I think you should get it.
Plasma is well, not as straighforward as swift3d, unless you’re a MAX user :slight_smile:

ive used max 3dsMAX4 before, and used to know my way around 3dStudio Release 4, back in my High School Days…

is plasma more expensive? is it more capable? does it output vector animations the way that Swift does?

not sure about all that, you can check their site :slight_smile:
i just saw it’s interface and it looks pretty much like 3d max’s…

plasma is about 700 dollars give or take. Swift 3d it is!!

good choice :slight_smile:
i actually won my copy off a contest, i was very satisfied with it… unfortunately i didnt get much time to work with it

You get what you pay for. Plasma supports all max modifiers, bones, skins, physics. They’ve even included havok dynamics so you can export models for shockwave (you’d need director to finish the shockwave movie, but it’s still a nice feature).

Seeing as you are a max user you’d find the interface very familiar. Modelling is much much much more powerful than swift.
However, I export my models as *.3ds and import them into swift… easy way to get around the modelling limitations.

you can always download it…

:bandit:

please, no piracy here. we wouldn’t want to get the K-man in trouble… :ub:

I finally got Swift 3d in the mail, and this program is freaking easy! Its almost like bryce, where you have primitive shapes and then change details like height and width, and the materials, lights, and cameras are easy to use.

I have had experience with 3dstudio MAX, and his seems way less complicated, but also way less capable. Im still playing around but from what ive seen so far, I will have loads of fun with this program.

Here is an example of what this program can do with Flash MX…

<object classid=“clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000” codebase=“http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0” width=“400” height=“300”>
<param name=“movie” value=“http://www.igovw.com/swift3d.swf”>
<param name=“quality” value=“high”>
<param name=“wmode” value=“transparent”>
<param name=“menu” value=“false”>
<embed src=“http://www.igovw.com/swift3d.swf” menu=“false” quality=“high” pluginspage=“http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer” type=“application/x-shockwave-flash” width=“400” height=“300”></embed></object>

First i output a SWF from Swift, and imported it into Flash MX. Then, to my suprise i found out that certain elements of the SWF could be seperated, and so i animated them all in smoothly. This program has many possibilities!!! hehehe :slight_smile:

I am a max/LW user and I think swift is awesome if i would have saw this post before you bought swift I would have told you to also try amorphium pro. I have this one too and it is awesome. SOme freak modeling tools but the modelling is great for the web. If you are still in the market check it out. www.electricimage.com anyother digital artists should check proggy out if you havent
