So I’ve been looking into different CMS’s, (Drupal, WordPress, and Joomla) for a project I’ll be working on soon. I think Drupal sounds cool, but would most likely be overkill for this project, and I don’t have the time to spend on what I’ve heard is a steeper learning curve right now. So basically, I’m trying to figure out between WordPress and Joomla…
While looking at the Joomla demo, I discovered, much to my dismay, that they were using tables for layout, even in their new version 1.5 that was just released (stable) in January! I looked a little more into this, since I thought this was odd, and found this article. Basically it just says that, while not recommended, tables can still be used for layout, while maintaining accessibility and valid code. For some reason, I’m having a hard time accepting this, since as a web designer I’ve been trained to feel a sharp pain in my sternum at the mere mention of tables. What do you guys think about this?
Also, any thoughts on WP vs Joomla in general, for a pretty simple site with e-commerce?
